A brand new model for 2019, the Builder's Edition 517e features Taylor's new Grand Pacific body shape, a round-shoulder dreadnought voiced with Taylor's ground-breaking new V-Class Bracing System. (Find out more about V-Class Bracing at the link below.)
Among the first generation of Grand Pacific guitars, this gorgeous Builder's Edition 517e in Wild Honey Burst features Taylor's new round-shoulder dreadnought body shape. "Notes blend smoothly together to produce a warm and seasoned acoustic voice with clear low-end power." The Grand Pacific body's wider waist produces a strong bass response, but without the woofiness that can sometimes plague bigger-body guitars. This all-solid guitar features tropical mahogany back and sides with dry, woody tonal character, paired with the broad dynamic range of a torrefied Sitka spruce top. Torrefaction is a process where the spruce top is baked to achieve a "played in" sound, paired with the Wild Honey Burst finish, this creates the aesthetics and tone of an older guitar. Along with the properties of V-Class Bracing making the sound louder, more in-tune, and longer sustaining. The 517e guitar's neck is made from mahogany with a comfortable 25.5" scale length, and a responsibly sourced ebony fingerboard with Grained Ivoroid "Arrowheads" inlays. This guitar is equipped with Taylor's ground-breaking Expression System 2 electronics, a behind-the-saddle transducer which amplifies the true sound of each unique guitar.
The Builder’s Edition stamp means that the 517e is detailed with premium features designed to maximize player comfort, including chamfered body edges and a new compound-carve neck profile that compensates for the change in your hand position as you move along the neck. Subtly contoured fretboard edges and a rounded, ridgeless heel add to the guitar’s pleasing fretting-hand feel, while Taylor's refined Curve Wing bridge shape brings extra comfort to your pick hand. Taylor's muted Silent Satin finish makes for a smoother playing feel and means there is no squeaking sound when moving your hand up and down the neck.
Between its sound and feel, the Builder’s Edition 517e once again raises the bar on the Taylor playing experience. The guitar comes with a Western Floral hardshell case, and also features a new black graphite nut, and a new guitar label that bears the signature of master guitar designer Andy Powers.
